ABOUT ME

I first started songwriting and performing around Liverpool when I was 14 after growing up singing in choirs and learning classical guitar. Influenced by artists like Billie Marten, The Staves, dodie and Corinne Bailey Rae, I quickly found my natural voice as an artist and leaned into the gentle folk tendencies of my majority female inspirations. My dynamic and often finger picked guitar style stemmed from entering my musical education through classical guitar lessons and I soon started to experiment with alternate tunings. My lyricism has always revolved around themes of nature, love and poetic imagery, sometimes abstract and sometimes more pointed.

I attended LIPA Sixth Form College from 2018-2020 where I studied a UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Popular Music and Production. Here I received training in music technology, production, live sound, music business, songwriting and performance and achieved Distinctions in both first and second year. During my time at LIPA I further developed my artistry and voice as a songwriter as well as performing in various vocal styles including pop, indie, R&B, rock, disco and soul across a number of different ensembles.

In 2020 I moved to Manchester to begin a degree in Popular Music and Recording at the University of Salford. Over the course of my degree I studied session musicianship, composition, studio composition, culture and identity studies, business and enterprise, music technology and music journalism, eventually specialising in music performance and music enterprise and achieving a First Class Honours degree. I also received three years of vocal tuition under Clare Hogan and Emily Jackson as well as being a lead vocalist in The University of Salford Session Orchestra and The Soulford Sisters vocal quartet.

During my time at college and university I was constantly performing across Liverpool and Manchester as well as writing and recording. After releasing two debut singles I was approached by the independent record label Tri-Tone who I went on to release my third single 'Disconnected' with. During this time I began to write with other artists and have since collaborated on songs with Ben Hughes (Tall Children), Leo Martin, Tom Anderson and Alex Quinn.

I am now looking to build on my professional portfolio and collaborate with more producers, musicians and songwriters. Currently I am working to release my debut EP, recorded with my three-piece backing band and producer Celia Borthwick.
